Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU)

Other than Bachelor’s degree programme offered by Kalyani University, Nagar College also has Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) Post-Graduate (PG) programme which has been running for over a period of more than 13 years. At first the PG course under NSOU with Nagar College as Learner Study Centre (LSC) started its journey with a handful of 10-12 students which has now increased to a considerable amount. The subjects offered as PG courses include English, Bengali, History, Political Science, Mathematics, Education, Masters of Social Work (MSW) and the one recently included is Bachelor Degree in Library and Information Science (BLIS). The teachers of Nagar College are the Academic Counsellors who are engaged in evaluation of the assignments prepared by the students as per offered by the University syllabus.

There is also a small infrastructural set-up beside the college campus for keeping the study materials to be distributed to the respective subject students. A record of every official functioning relating to NSOU is stored manually in the form of database and is kept updated as per requirements.

NSOU of Nagar College has always extended its hands for the benefit of students who take admission under PG programme. Open and Distance learning is beneficial for students who is eager and interested in studying PG but has less scope, time and other issues. The location of the college at a rural area acts as beneficial for students and learners who want to opt for Master’s degree after completing their graduation course. The Co-ordinator and assistances engaged with the NSOU is at their service whenever they are required to do so, stays connected to students and keep them well informed about the assignments & notifications that is updated in the University website. In near future the NSOU of Nagar College plans to start the Bachelor’s Degree Programme (BDP) course as well, if criterions are permissible by the concerned University.
